BackgroundThe Land Rover Discovery 4, known in North America and the Middle East as the LR4, marked a significant update to its predecessor, the Discovery 3. While it retained the proven Integrated Body Frame structure, the model introduced a range of design and technological enhancements that brought it in line with the brand’s evolving aesthetic and performance standards. Visually, the Discovery 4 adopted a more refined look, with redesigned front and rear light units and a restyled front grille. These updates aligned it with the design language introduced on the 2010 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, signalling a shift towards a more all-road approach of luxury and market-leading off-road technology. The AJ V8 Gen III, known internally as the AJ133, debuted in 2009 for the 2010 model year as an all-new 5.0-Litre V8 featuring direct fuel-injection and variable camshaft timing. For the naturally aspirated variants, it also introduced cam profile switching and a variable intake tract. The naturally aspirated versions typically offer around 380bhp and 380lb/ft, while the supercharged variants produce up to 550bhp or more, depending on tuning and model. The CarThis Discovery 4, finished in Bonneville Black over a tan interior, is the AJ-V8 – a 5.0-litre V8 delivering 385bhp – which was never officially sold in the UK, making this a Japanese import.
