Launched in 1975, the Jaguar XJS 21-year production life was a testimony to the excellence of its basic design. Its excellent ride and handling balance was justly praised by the contemporary motoring press. The XJS's superlative 5.3 litre developed some 295bhp in later fuel injected form and when allied to automatic transmission gave authoritative 150mph performance. The car was re-engineered in 1991 with the rear side windows enlarged and a new four litre engine. The rear section benefitted from the new 'facelift' rear lights.

First registered 12th June 1992, this late 5.3 litre V12 XJS is presented in metallic grey with matching grey leather trim and wood veneer. Purchased in 2001 by our vendors late husband, this example was his dream car. In the history file is a copy of the original advert stating this example with air conditioning, electric seats and on 77,000 miles from new, having a full documented history and was in immaculate condition with an asking price of £6,995. He owned and enjoyed his dream XJS for a number of years with the latest service stamp showing in 2004, however due to personal reasons shortly after the car found itself in the garage and there it stayed for a further two decades until sadly, he passed in September of 2024. The car is a time warp from 2005, covered in dust and apart from some headline sag, the interior is still in beautiful condition. The bodywork and underside appear very solid but naturally the car has not run for some time and will need full reconditioning mechanically. We connected the car to a battery to test electrics and found the electric seats/lights/indicators/windows etc. were working; however the only item we could not get to work was the electric mirrors. A dust down, clean up and recommission later, this would make a wonderful project of a desirable model, offered with a very good history file up to the storage and having covered a mere 81,299.
