Original Jaguar reclining bucket seats stripped, frames repainted, new seat and headrest foams, backrest fibres, and all retrimmed in fine Jaguar Saville Grey leather with centre section perforations. New deep pile carpets throughout with matching over mats, full soundproofing kit, matching door cards with flawless chrome furniture, leather centre armrest and cubby box, retrimmed dash top moulding, facia, windscreen pillar panels, rear wheelarch panels and new sunvisors etc. all unmarked. All interior lighting, crystal clear Smiths gauges, switches, analogue clock and electrics work as they were intended. The original satin finished aluminium alloy spoked Jaguar steering wheel, hand stitched in leather presents in perfect order and completes this stunning interior - EXTERIOR - THE ULTIMATE CAT WITH A FOLDING TOP... The body was completely stripped to bare metal, prepared and painted to perfection by Scott-Moncrieff, Leek, Staffordshire. A full photographic album of the restoration records the car before, during and after restoration and completed in the Spring of 1997. Painted in the legendary Metallic Blue of Ecurie Ecosse Motor Racing Team. Ecurie Ecosse went on to become one of the most successful and well-known independent racing teams of all time winning the 1956 and 1957 24 hours of Le Mans in a Jaguar D-Type. The paint finish and bodywork are simply outstanding and still to show winning standard considering it was completed 28 years ago, factory panel fit, shut lines and gaps. The underside is completely painted to factory specification, fully detailed and again to show standard as you can see from the pictures. All bright work has either been replated or replaced using quality items throughout, original Lucas lighting all round with the exception of better performing Wipac halogen headlights. Triplex Laminated front screen and crystal clear glass all round. A new black mohair hood and hood envelope by The Don Trimming Company, Birmingham has been fitted with all new framework. The hood opens and closes with ease and fits perfectly... Fully overhauled suspension all round again all with a photgraphic record - ENGINE & TRANSMISSION - THE 12-CYLINDER ANIMAL: JAGUAR V12... The fully detailed engine and engine bay houses the incredible 5343cc V12 consisting of aluminium 12-valve cylinder heads and an aluminium engine block with a forged steel crankshaft, four Zenith-Stromberg 175 CD2SE carburettors and Opus electronic ignition. Launched in 1971, boasting the world’s only mass-production V-12, producing 266 bhp, 304 lb/ft torque - enough to propel the roadster to 146 mph with a 0–60 mph time of 6.4 seconds. The engine and all synchromesh 4-speed manual gearbox were entrusted to noted M.D.S. Services, Ferrari Specialists, Great Haywood, Staffordshire for a full and extensive engine and gearbox rebuild costing in excess of £12,000. The fully documented photographic rebuild was completed in the Winter of 2017 and has covered a mere 450 miles since. The engine and engine bay are simply outstanding and one of the best we have ever seen. The attention to detail is second to none. The history file documents the extensive work carried out with a photographic record, nothing missed. She runs perfectly hot or cold and sounds tremendous through the full stainless steel exhaust system. The clutch is light and progressive in operation, gear change positive and precise... A joy to drive and what a soundtrack. - SUMMARY - Here we have a very special matching numbers Jaguar E-type V12 Roadster with a documented restoration carried out by exclusive vehicle restoration specialists Scott-Moncrieff, Leek, Staffordshire and completed in the Summer of 1997. Originally LHD being dispatched 28th August 1973 to British Leyland, New York, before returning back to the UK in 1995. The car resided in Sherman Oaks within the San Fernando Valley region of California. The car was selected for extensive restoration due to its rust free and damage free condition and still in its original colour of Jaguar Dark Blue. We have images of the car taken by Scott-Moncrieff showing what fantastic original condition it was in prior to restoration. We have circa 120 images of the car before, during, and after restoration showing what extensive work was carried out by Scott-Moncrieff completed in 1997 at a cost of circa £40,000. 2017 saw a further £26,000 spent on a full engine and gearbox rebuild, overhaul of the electrical system, coolant system, steering, suspension, limited slip differential and brake system etc. This work carried out by M.D.S. Services, Ferrari Specialists and supported with 835 images. Further light recommissioning by M.D.S. was carried out in November 2023 at a cost of £2323. Since the initial restoration completed by Scott-Moncrieff in the Summer of 1997 a mere 1400 miles have been covered and only 423 miles since the extensive engine and gearbox rebuild by M.D.S Services in the Winter of 2017. Today this beautiful multiple show winning V12 Roadster, presented in exceptional order throughout. We've had the pleasure of knowing this car and its fastidious car collector owner for the past 15 years. The restoration was initially instructed by him in 1996 and kept in his private exclusive collection for the next 27 years. The history file documents in extensive detail the vehicle's restoration by Scott-Moncrieff and M.D.S. Services with circa 1000 supporting images, a wealth of invoices for work carried out and parts totalling in excess of £66,500, past MOT certificates from the first issued 18th July 1997 when the car was completed with 46,059 miles, original owners handbook and document wallet, original Jaguar Sales Brochures, Jaguar Heritage Certificate, 2 sets of keys, Jaguar Enthusiast Magazine with show winning details, show trophies, VHS video where the car featured in a 1997 episode of the BBC series "The Car's the Star" with Quentin Wilson aired in the UK on October 13th 1997, and State of California Certificate of Title detailing the Stateside owner Mr. Oscar Fistarol who took ownership of the car 26th September 1989 prior to being exported back to the UK in 1995. A Fresh 12 month MOT will be issued upon sale and of course, this E-Type is HPI Clear with certificate included. This is an outstanding example of the mighty Jaguar E-Type Series 3.
